The mac hosts file can be accessed from the iTunes App Store or from an online website, but many people use it to host their own iOS, Android or Windows app on their Macs, iPhones, iPods or Macs running Mac OS X. Here are some ways you can use the Mac hosts file to host your own app or game console on your Mac: Accessing a Mac’s Mac Host File on your iPhone The Mac hosts files are available to download from the Mac App Store, iTunes App Marketplace, and other online stores.
Open the Apple menu, click the Finder icon ( ) and select “Applications.”
Select “General” from the list of apps, and select the “Mac Host File” option.
If you’re using an iPhone, click “View,” then “Preferences.”
Select the “Network” tab and then click “Access.”
If you’ve got an iPhone 4S, iPhone 4, iPhone 5, or iPhone 5c, click on the “Hosting” option and then select “Mac App Host File.”
The host file you download should be located at the following location: C:\Users\UserName\Library\Application Support\Hosting\MacHostFile.app
